Mandatory standards for ceramic articles that may contain foodstuffs
Just because it is "handmade" does not mean it is of good quality.
The profession of ceramist involves following good practices and meeting safety requirements for both the craftsman and the consumer.
The standards make it possible to protect the consumer so that the tableware in which he eats is not toxic.
This just seems essential to me!

To be sure that my pieces are safe for you:
- I respect the rules of good practice for shaping and manufacturing raw materials (clay, glazes)
- I do not use lead
- All pieces are fired at a very high temperature of 1280/1300 degrees
- I have all the necessary certification tests carried out in the laboratory to validate the conformity of my collections.
The shape of the piece does not affect the conformity so I have the clay and glazes tested for each different version of my collections:
- Glazed porcelain
- Raw porcelain
- Coloured raw porcelain
- Raw stoneware
- Glazed stoneware
- And a special feature on black stoneware (cobalt and manganese)
In order to ensure an EXCELLENT sanitary conformity, necessary for the good health of the consumer at the end of the chain, the glaze in contact with foodstuffs must follow the principle of inertia.
This principle of inertia implies that the product must not :
- present no danger to human health
- not lead to unacceptable changes in the composition of the foodstuffs;
- not lead to any alteration in the organoleptic properties of the foodstuffs.
The tests are carried out for glazes and for raw clay.

2) Specific migration in repeated contact of Aluminium, Cobalt and Arsenic on an inorganic article (glass, crystal, ceramic, concrete, stone, glass-ceramic, enamelled objects) :
in accordance with the DGCCRF MCDA n°2 (V01-01/05/2016).
